Portugal's has been awarded prizes for the best European golf destination, and the best beach destination, at the World Travel Awards 2012, held in the Algarve.
Le Meridien Penina Golf & Resort received the award for best resort, while Blu & Green Vilalara Thalassa Resort was voted the best Spa resort.
The presentation of the WTA awards, known as the ‘Oscars of tourism,’ was held at the newly opened Conrad Algarve hotel, at Quinta do Lago, organised in partnership with Turismo do Algarve, and was attended by representatives from 35 countries and , voted by travel agents worldwide.
